How to restore the waterproof layer of your sports gear
Over time and with regular use, the waterproof layer of your sportswear and footwear can lose effectiveness, allowing moisture to seep in and affect performance. To restore it and extend the lifespan of your gear, follow these steps:
1. Proper cleaning before waterproofing
- Wash the garment or footwear with a gentle detergent, avoiding harsh products that could damage the waterproof layer.
- Make sure it is completely dry before applying any treatment.
2. Reactivating waterproofing in technical fabrics
- Some jackets and sportswear have a water-repellent treatment designed to prevent moisture buildup in the fabric. Over time, this protection may weaken, but you can reinforce it by applying heat:
- Use a dryer on low heat for a few minutes.
- If you don’t have a dryer, iron the garment at medium temperature, placing a protective cloth between the iron and the fabric.
3. Strengthening with a specialized waterproofing spray
- For long-lasting protection, apply Super Impregnator spray to the clean and dry surface. Its formula creates an invisible barrier that repels water and dirt without compromising breathability.
- Spray the product evenly from about 30 cm away.
- Let it dry completely before wearing the garment or footwear.
- Reapply periodically to maintain protection.
By following these steps, your sports gear will regain its waterproofing and be ready to withstand any weather conditions.
